What’s Our Problem?

Talking to my neighbor about chickens today. He’s steering me toward meat chickens, a lot less work, he says, than layers. Why bother with layers when even organic eggs are now only $3 a doz. at the supermarket? Well, if I have $3, that’s OK. But what if I don’t? And why can’t we eat our layers? Well, there isn’t much chicken on that chicken. But ……. at some point, didn’t the layers and the meat chickens both come from the same eggs on the same farm?

Maybe that’s the whole problem of the human race. We split the chicken and the egg and we can’t get ’em together anymore.
